Harmony, well-being, health and protection

A baby room or nursery is one of those images that any “applicant” mum dreams of early on. How many of us grew up fantasizing about this moment? Of being a mother and having a beautiful, healthy baby… many of us imagine ourselves pushing the stroller through a garden on a Spring morning.

When the moment does in fact arrive, we all want a prince or princess’s room for our baby and for the room to offer him or her the best well-being, harmony and development possible. That dream is easy to achieve. All it takes is for your baby’s room to be in accordance with Feng Shui and it will bring harmony, well-being, health, protection, good development and peaceful nights. Although you’ll achieve the best results with specific suggestions for your baby, there are many aspects we can put into practice that already yield great results.

Suggestions:
To make it easier, we’ll give you 10 suggestions below:

  1. The crib’s headrest must be well protected, i.e. leaning against a wall or a tall piece of furniture, so the baby has protection, support and health.
  2. Do not place the crib between a door and a window, nor in the centre of the bedroom, as energy is too quick in these areas and can bring unrest.
  3. The baby’s room must have well defined areas, that is: a place to sleep in, another for changing station, another for clothes, another for breastfeeding and yet another for playing, so parents can implement schedules and rhythms more easily.
  4. Leave some space under the crib. If the crib has drawers underneath, use them for bed linen or towels.
  5. Use proper lighting, stronger in the play area and softer in the sleeping area.
  6. Keep the room tidy when the baby goes to sleep or isn’t home, so he or she feels calm and serene.
  7. Remove from the baby’s room anything he or she doesn’t use or is broken.
  8. Do not use mirrors or TVs.
  9. Use soft colours. Strong colours are very active and can make your baby restless.
  10. Air the room and let the sunshine in.

I’ve been giving monthly workshops at the Centro Pré e Pós Parto ante and post-natal clinic in Lisbon since 2010 and a lot of the mums have implemented these suggestions, as well as others, having achieved good results.

If you’re still expecting, you can implement these measures from the start, but if your baby is already here, give them a go and witness the results!
I wish you good energy and peaceful nights.
